Treasure chest net

                                                                Net's are 2-d shape's. When we fold the 2-D shapes they are 3-D shapes.

I started by making a cube out of clicker squares.   Then I unfolded the cube until it was a 2-d shape.

To make the treasure chest, we used paper, protractor, ruler, pencil, scissors, and glue.

We had to draw a net for the chest and  one for the lid. Then we cut them out and folded them. Then we glued them together.

 I have learned about nets. I've learned
 to use a protractor and ruler to make correct angles.
I found it tricky to rule the correct angles.
I found it all hard because the paper at the top kept bending.
I liked folding up the squares to make a 3-D shape.

Place Value

I was learning to read numbers and say what comes before or after. It was easy because Mrs Murry helped me. Sometimes I get my thousands and hundreds mixed up.

I was learning to display data.  I found this easy because someone  had helped me. My next step is to collect data and to make more digital graphs.

Making a Rectangular Prism

My Reflection :

I was learning about making prisms  out of paper. 

First I had to draw a net with 4 rectangles and 2 squares.  Mrs D helped me to cut out to make sure that the sides were straight. Next I had to fold the tabs and sides so there are sharp creases. It was tricky to decide what the prism would look like and how to draw the net so that I could make a prism.I would like to learn how to make a pyramid.

I was using a calculator to solve the problems. I needed to see which number was different and whether it was a hundred, a ten or a one.I enjoyed it and I am proud that i got it all right.

I was learning to solve fraction problems.
I had to work out the fraction of each piece and then find the cost of each piece of cake. I used a fraction set and then money to work out how much each slice cost.
I found it tricky because I am not sure about money
I would like to learn more about money so I can pay for things by myself.
I learnt that 1/4 plus 1/4 is the same as 1/2 . I also learnt that 1/2 of $10 is $5

I am learning to carry our own investigation .
It was tricky to understand our learning about statistical investigation.

Learning about Pictographs and Creating a Bar Graph

My Reflection:
I found it was a bit tricky to work out the number of people because one person equally 2 and half a person was only 1.  But I did it with help from Mrs H.

I had to work out the answers to the questions. Some were hard but I used my adding in tens and ones.  I did a good job.

I need to do more work on pictograms. But I liked it.

Volume Challenge

For maths week, we have been learning about measurement. Yesterday we talked about volume. We learnt that to work out the volume of a shape you use length x width x height. Our challenge was to work in pairs and use the unlink cubes to make as many different creations as we could, with a volume of 8
